Doe in the Headlights

She’s caught in the headlights
A Jeep loaded with hunters
Guns: cocked and aimed
sights set on the prize.

She can run 40 miles per hour
And zigzag through the woods
but her eyes are now dim
Trapped, and it’s her fault.

Taught the ways
of master survivalists
But now that glint is now glare
Her fate was ultimately sealed.
